Strenuous Solitude

Location

Stockton University Performing Arts Center, NJ

Date

December 2022

Role

Choreographer

Strenuous Solitude is a piece about isolation. Feeling alone even when in the company of others; friends, families, partners, colleagues, etc. and not being able to find a solution or way out of these feelings easily. After being trapped in our homes and separated from other human touch and normality for so long, finding a common theme to share on stage that most would understand came easy to my mind. These underlying feelings are still present in the daily lives of so many around that you may not even know someone next to you still feels like they are in a little box on zoom, with no way out. The stress and anxiety of transitioning back into real life but not feeling quite ready to jump back is scary and this piece was an outlet for those who need to feel heard and understood.
